The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has denied claims that the body is working with Koreans to rig elections.
Through a press statement, IEBC chairman Issack Hassan said that the accusations are part of a plan by Cord to spread propaganda with the aim of discrediting the commission.
“Commissioner Thomas Letangule who was alleged to have taken the BVR kits to Korea for tampering in readiness for elections had travelled to Seoul to Observe Korean parliamentary elections," said Hassan.
Hassan said that Letangule had travelled to Korea courtesy of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB).
“IEBC as a member of A-WEB has a memorandum of understanding on training and capacity building in the election," said Hassan.
The IEBC boss added that the remarks by Kalonzo not only hurt the relationship with A-WEB , that has been nurtured for over two years , but also runs against Cord's own calls for improvement of the IEBC capacity to manage elections.
