Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision (IEBC) has addressed the impact of CEO Ezra Chiloba on the preparation for October 26 polls.
According to commissioner Prof Abdi Guliye, the absence of Chiloba and former commissioner Roselyn Akombe will not have any impact on the polls.
According to Guliye, decisions are still being made at the plenary and the senior management is handling the actual operations at IEBC.
“Five days, six days to the elections, all the processes are complete. His departure will not have much of an impact on the elections. There wasn’t any decision Ezra was making on his own,” Prof Guliye told journalists in Dubai where he was leading a delegation that went to monitor the printing of the ballot papers.
The papers were printed in Dubai by Al Ghuarair firm.
Dr Akombe abandoned the team in Dubai and traveled to New York from where announced that she had resigned from her role.
Chiloba started a three-week leave of absence from the IEBC which partly fulfills demands by the National Super Alliance (NASA) that he should not oversee the repeat election.
