The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has found fault in the petition filed by the NASA Opposition challenging the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to IEBC lawyer Kamau Karori, the NASA team was still filing evidence at the Supreme Court until Sunday even after the the Friday night deadline elapsed.
"Upon inquiring from the Supreme Court, we were advised that you were still filing court documents as at midday today (Sunday). Our client is concerned as to why documents are still being filed way out of time," Karori said in a letter to the NASA legal team.
The letter addressed to Murumba & Awele Advocates also requested that the court confirms the allegations.
"By a copy of this letter, we are requesting the Registrar of the Supreme Court to confirm the documents which are being filed this long after the deadline for filing," added Karori, who will represent IEBC alongside lawyer Paul Nyamodi.
However, NASA lawyer Paul Mwangi has termed the protests as sideshows, insisting that as of yesterday their team had not received any letter over the matter.
"We have not received any letter from them. We don't know what they are claiming," Mwangi said as quoted by The Standard.
