[A past 2013 general election. Photo/Courtesy] The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has given notice that a general election will be held, Tuesday, August 08, 2017. The Commission said this will involve a presidential election as well as election of County governors, senators, County Women Members of National Assembly (Representatives), Members of the National Assembly and Members of County Assembly.''Details of key electoral timelines towards the General Election are contained in a Kenya Gazette Notice dated 17th March, 2017,'' said IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.''Of immediate importance is that each political party wishing to participate in the elections must finalize its primaries on or before the 26th April, 2017 and conclude its intra-party disputes and submit the names of the persons nominated to contest for the respective elections on or before 10th May, 2017,'' he added.Both political party and independent candidates for the various elective positions were required to present their nomination papers to respective returning officers for clearance between May 28, and June 2, 2017.
