The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is facing a headache on recruitment of staff in opposition strongholds.
With only 10 days to go, a number of staff comprising of clerks, presioding officers and their deputies failed to turn up for training.
They have cited security reasons after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga announced that he will not partcipate in the elections.
Politicians from the areas have also announced that they will not allow wlwctions to happen in their regions.
Nation reports that as part of the rapprochement, the commission dispatched senior teams one led by chairman Wafula Chebukati and the other by Dr Roselyn Akombe on Saturday to the affected counties.
The most affected counties are in Western Kenya where Chebukati toured.
Akombe was in Homa Bay and Kisumu counties.
Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay and Kisumu counties are worst hit by the boycott forcing the commission to extend the requirement deadline.
The publication adds that other Western counties of Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia, the officials are reluctantly turning up for training.
