The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has assured that it is investigating how Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's ID card number was used to register a Kenyan by the name Susan Wanjiru Njoroge, as a voter.
IEBC Communications Manager Andrew Limo urged Kenyans to be calm over the circumstance, saying there are several cases of shared ID card numbers in the register of voter's database.
IEBC said in most cases, Kalonzo's case could be because of data entry errors at the point of registration or genuine sharing of ID numbers.
The Commission said it is in touch with the National Registration Bureau on potential National ID duplicates and assured the public that no legitimately registered voters can be disenfranchised since voters are identified by the Biometric Registration kits.
Limo also assured Kenyans, Thursday, that there will be a month long period to inspect the register after the voter registration exercise which ends February 14.
Kalonzo found out his ID number was used by Susan Njoroge, when he, alongside Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and former deputy Speaker Farah Maalim, toured Wajir County, January 18, 2017.
He was also accompanied by Wajir governor Ahmed Abdulahi among other elected and aspiring Wiper leaders.
