All presidential candidates are required to submit their list of 2,000 supporters from at least 24 counties to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in print and excel form.
This is to be done between 18th – 22nd May, ahead of Kenya’s August elections.
For independent presidential candidates, supporters must not belong to any political party.
For party sponsored presidential candidates, their supporters must be registered party members of their respective parties.
For other elective seats for independent candidates, IEBC says supporters may or may not be members of a political party but the proposers and seconders must not belong to any political party.
”For other elective seats for party sponsored candidates, the proposer and seconder must be members of their relevant political party. All supporters, proposers and seconders must be registered voters,” IEBC said in a communication, Wednesday.
