The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has warned candidates eyeing various elective positions against engaging in activities which are contrary to the code of conduct they signed.

Speaking during a meeting with Uasin Gishu candidates in Eldoret, IEBC county Elections coordinator Jacktone Nyonje said anybody who will be found breaching the code of conduct and election laws will be dealt with accordingly.

He reiterated the need for the candidates to preach peace and unity during their campaigns.

"This meeting is aimed at reminding the candidates that they have a code of conduct they singed which they need to adhere to by ensuring their campaigns are peaceful," noted Njonje on Thursday.

"We have made it clear to them that going against elections laws and the code of conduct will attract disciplinary actions that might lead to their disqualification," he added.

The IEBC Uasin Gishu county Elections coordinator however said there has been no reports of breach of code of conduct formally before them.

"There is no candidate in Uasin Gishu being investigated for breach of code of conduct as no formal complaint has been filed before us," Nyonje said.
