The stakeholders who included the Opposition leader Raila Odinga, government spokesperson Erick Kiraithe, Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero and his deputy Jonathan Mweke, members of the civil society, religious organisations editors, politicians, among others, were tasked to ensure all eligible persons in their surroundings and fields, are registered as voters.

"There are over 1 million eligible Kenyans who have not registered to vote in Nairobi. It is imperative that as many Kenyans as possible register to express their democratic choice in the forthcoming elections. Take a moment today and pass by your local IEBC registration center with your original ID to ensure your voice is heard on August 8th, 2017,'' urged Raila during the launching of the Nairobi IEBC voter registration drive, at KICC.

Kiraithe called on the stakeholders to ensure peaceful elections, and called on all Kenyans to register as voters, and prepare to peacefully cast their votes on August 8.

"If you love Hon former prime minister Raila Odinga, go and register as a voter. If you love His Excellency the president, go register as a voter. Then go cast it during elections in August, and choose your leader. That's my call to Kenyans,'' Kiraithe said, Monday morning.

The second phase of the Mass Voter Registration Exercise exercise kicked off Monday January 16, in each ward at the Constituency level, and will be running until February 14, 2017.
