Speaking to this writer outside Anniversary Towers on Monday, the locals said that IEBC cannot be trusted to conduct another general election.

The locals claimed that the electoral body is being influenced by external factors.

“IEBC must be reconstituted and ne commissioners who are neutral appointed for us to have free and fair elections,” said Kenneth Mudasia, a Kibra resident.

Mr Mudasia said that most Kenyans had no faith in the electoral commission.

“The 2017 general elections can only be fair if we have Isaac Hassan and his commissioners out of office,” said Diana Kanyai, a Kibra resident who had turned u at the Anniversary towers.

Ms Kanyai alleged that IEBC was being manipulated by Jubilee government to rig the 2017 elections.

“We cannot have IEBC conduct another election after what they did in 2013,” she claimed. The Kibra locals together with other Cord supporters camped at the Anniversary towers for hours as they waited for their leaders.

The locals chanted ant-Jubilee government songs and ridicules as armed police officers watched. However, things got messier when Cord leaders arrived as supporters turned rowdy forcing the police to use tear gas to disperse them.

Cord has since vowed to continue the push of removing IEBC commissioners from office.
