Kadu Asili leaders have urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct free and fair elections on August 8. Kombora Joshua, Kadu Asili national chairman, said the political outfit will seek the court's intervention if the polls will not be conducted in a credible manner, adding that the party will not take rigging lightly.“We are giving this warning to IEBC that in case the elections will not be free and fair we shall match towards the courts to seek justice,” said Komora, as quoted by Baraka FM. The official added that free and fair elections will ensure peaceful transition of power in August. “We need a peaceful and just transition period as Kenyans as we head towards the electioneering period,” he added. Meanwhile, former labour minister Kazungu Kambi has downplayed allegations that Kadu Asili leaders are to blame for the defection the Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga.Kambi, who is seeking to replace Kilifi North MP Gideon Munga’ro, said the party is democratic.“We did not force Gunga out of Kadu asili,” he said. The legislator also reiterated Kombora’s sentiments over free and fair polls saying, “As Kadu Asili we are ready to challenge other parties in the upcoming polls. What we need as Kadu Asili are fair party nominations,” said Kambi.
