Mr Salat said that this would help curb possibilities of rigging in the poll.

Salat added that the ruling Jubilee coalition was planning to rig the elections using the old voter register lists, something he said his party would never allow.

“We want a fresh audit of the voters' register list. If not, Jubilee is planning on rigging the 2017 elections,” said Salat.

He denied claims of him joining Cord and said that they were only speaking in one voice to cleanse the Independent and Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), something that should not be interpreted as joining Cord.

Salat added that KANU remains an independent party and would produce their own candidates.

“We were only speaking with one voice concerning the IEBC stalemate and that does not mean we have joined Cord. We are going to produce our own candidate.” Said Salat.
