Cord leader Raila Odinga has now responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks after the latter publicly lashed out at him for not obeying the law in the bid to disband the IEBC.
The opposition leader says his a law abiding citizen but insisted that the IEBC should be disbanded.
Raila said Cord obeyed the law when it collected 1.4 million signatures for its Okoa Kenya referendum push but the commission failed them.
"Is that not following the law?" posed Raila.
‘What did the President expect us to do? We can only relax if we see IEBC going home. Whether the officials like it or not, they must go home,’ concluded Raila.
On Monday, Raila led other Cord leaders and supporters to Anniversary Towers in Nairobi where they wanted to storm the IEBC offices to eject the commissioners.
Cord says the commission cannot be trusted to conduct the 2017 general election.
Police were forced to lob tear gas canisters at the protesters to disperse them.
The action drew President Uhuru's wrath who said the only way Cord could oust the commissioners from office was by following the due process.
