[Photo|standard.co.ke]On the day of being declared president-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati, the commission's public results portal showed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had 8,223,369 votes (54.17 per cent) against Raila Odinga's 6,822,812 votes (44.94 per cent). However, Uhuru was declared winner with 8,203,290 votes (54.27 per cent) against Odinga's 6,762,224 (44.74 per cent).Despite the figures, things seem to be taking a different tune, after the IEBC 'disowned' results captured in its public portal, contrary to what Kenyans would expect. In response to the Odinga's NASA presidential election petition, contesting Uhuru's win at the Supreme Court, IEBC in its sworn affidavit said the portal figures were only 'statistics'.According to the electoral body, the only true presidential election results were those captured in statutory forms. During tallying of the results before the August 11 presidential results declaration, IEBC said the portal figures were provisional results, after NASA started disputing the preliminary results. However, Odinga who wants the Supreme Court to nullify Uhuru's victory, said over 10,000 polling stations, whose data was entered in the Kenya Integrated Electronic Management System (KIEMS) and displayed at the IEBC national tallying centre, the Bomas of Kenya, were not the same as information and data from the same polling stations, captured in Forms 34A.According to NASA, Jubilee colluded with IEBC, to subvert Raila Odinga victory by manipulating figures.IEBC has dismissed NASA's statement, saying data entered in KIEMS was statistics. "The result of the election from each polling station was contained in Forms 34A. It is therefore incorrect to compare statistics entered in KIEMS with results from each polling station as contained in Forms 34A,” the agency says in its affidavit.
