IEBC has fired the Procurement Director Lawy Aura for alleged delay in sourcing of ballot papers.
In a notice released on Monday, the commision indicated that there was continued delay by Aura’s office to purchase papers to be used in the August polls.
The commission’s preparedness took a major hit early in the year, when the court nullified a Sh2.5 billion tender awarded to a Dubai-based firm for printing ballot papers.
Justice George Odunga in his verdict held that the tender, which was awarded to Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing Company, had failed to comply with the Election laws.
The case had been filed by the opposition's CORD coalition against the IEBC and the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.
Aura’s dismissal comes two weeks after High Court Justice George Odunga issued a temporary order suspending the decision of the procurement board, which annulled the ongoing tendering giving IEBC the go-ahead with the process.
