An Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official in the Rift Valley has resigned and joined politics.

IEBC South Rift regional coordinator Stephen Ngeno has declared he will vie for Sotik MP seat in the August 8 polls.

He stepped down on Wednesday, after serving for less than a year.

The seat is currently held by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso.

Laboso had announced her candidature for Bomet governorship.
