Amid the storm within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), a commissioner has confirmed meeting a top Jubilee Party official.
The IEBC official, however, did not confirm whether the meeting was public at her office or Jubilee offices.
Dr Roselyne Akombe, in an interview with The Standard, said she met Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju.
She said the meeting was due to Tuju's interest in the electoral process.
She also denied meeting National Super Alliance (Nasa) officials as widely reported.
“I have never met the NASA leadership. I have met Tuju. Why is no one talking about my meeting with him? It’s a meeting I can publicly confirm because as far I am concerned, it was in the interest of the electoral process,” said Akombe in an interview with The Standard.
Dr Akombe is one of the IEBC commissioners that Jubilee leaders want out of the electoral agency.
The president's party claims she is working with opposition Nasa.
She said she has no plans of resigning amid pressure from Jubilee.
“I am not planning to tender my resignation. Now my focus is purely on a credible electoral process that will vindicate us,” she said.
She added,“When I signed up for this job, I knew what I was getting myself into. In the course of discharging my duties, I am cognizant of the fact that many will try to rattle me, but I have to do the right thing.”
