Opposition leader Raila Odinga has issued a statement ahead of the election date set to take place October 17.

Raila has criticized the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for choosing the selected date and has warned that he will not take part should the commission fail to address issues he believes needs to be fixed.

The NASA coalition also complained over the removal of other key presidential candidates in the upcoming elections following the order from the Supreme Court that there should be fresh polls. NASA further released a statement asking the IEBC to send officials on leave. The list of officials includes:

Ezra Chiloba (Commission Secretary and CEO)

Betty Nyabuto - Deputy Commission Secretary (Operations)

James Muhati - Director ICT

Immaculate Kassait - Director Voter Registration and Elections Operations

Praxedes Tororey - Director Legal and Public Affairs

Moses Kipkogey - Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO

In the statement NASA also criticized the commission for not consulting with the respective parties before concluding the upcoming election date.
