Safina Party has disputed the declaration of Kimani Ichungwa of Jubilee Party as the winner of the Kikuyu parliamentary seat.

A gazette notice published on Tuesday by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)  listed Ichung'wa as the only candidate for the Kikuyu MP seat.

But Safina party director of elections John Wamagata claims that the Jubilee Party conspired with the electoral body to have the Jubilee candidate cleared unopposed.

He said that Paul Wandere, aspirant for Kikuyu MP seat on the Safina ticket, was locked out by the IEBC.

The reason cited was that he did not present his papers on time.

Speaking in Kiambu town, Wamagata accused IEBC employees of being Jubilee Party moles.

"Our candidate was denied the chance yet he had arrived on time. Kikuyu constituency residents were denied their democratic right since the aspirant had reached on time,” Wamagata lamented.

Ichungw'a, who was elected on the now defunct TNA in 2013, emerged winner in the JP primaries held in April.
