Over 250 Kenyans have joined an online petition to remove their names from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voter register.
Following the announcement of the presidential results, the petition was created with the aim of targeting 1000,000 registered voters.
So far only 251 people have signed, making it seem like another attempt to protest the election results.
“Elections conducted in Kenya are not a true reflection of what Kenyans aspire,” Anthony Onyango said as reported by the Daily Nation.
Atheism activist Harrison Mumia said the signatures will be given to the IEBC and is currently available online.
“We are persuaded that many Kenyans have lost trust in the IEBC and have a right to have their names expunged from the register,” said Mr Mumia.
He criticized the electoral process for not being free and fair and requested that the exercise be scrutinized by an independent body.
“It is our position that the events before, during and after the elections did not lend themselves to the conduct of a free, fair, credible and transparent elections. We therefor demand for an audit of the entire process by an independent auditor,” he said.
Many linked this years post election violence as reason to remove their names from the list of voters registered.
