Government spokesperson Erick Kiraithe has assured the public that IEBC is dedicated to conducting a free and fair election process.
Speaking at the KICC Wednesday afternoon he said that the body has gone over and above to ensure that it is well prepared for the coming elections.
The former Kenya police spokesman also reminded all politicians, the civil societies and people in governance positions that peaceful elections are the responsibility of everyone and not only the IEBC.
“It doesn’t matter who you are. If you are called upon to ensure peace do it with patriotism,” he stated.
He said that the government was dedicated to hold the elections as per the constitution and that it would play its part in ensuring that everything was held democratically.
“We have noted with concern a propensity from politicians and civil institutions from certain areas to continue with utterances that deliberately misinterpret the concept of fundamental rights and freedoms,” he reiterated.
