The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is well set to oversee the repeat presidential election on October 26.
This is according to the African Electoral Observation Group.
In a report titled Kenya’s Ground Zero which was released Sunday morning, the observers maintained that all preparations are running smoothly in 43 counties out of the 47, adding that not all registered voters may however turn out to vote on Thursday.
Head of delegation Robert Foulser called upon Kenyans, human rights bodies as well as the international community to play their part accordingly on the election day.
“October 26 remains the only irreducible minimum for Kenyans, and the rights of those who intend to boycott and those who will vote should be respected,” said Foulser.
The report also acknowledged the IEBC is currently facing both internal and external challenges in their effort to prepare the fresh presidential election.
“IEBC faces many challenges, including the resignation of [Roselyn] Akombe, which cast aspersions on the IEBC,” said Foulser.
