Opposition coalition NASA is opposed to Muhati’s return. The opposition remains jittery claiming that the now recalled IT director was partisan.

IEBC confirmed that Muhati who was suspended on accusations of being non cooperative in the audit of ICT systems at the Commission was reinstated on a unanimous decision.

The Commission’s Communication Manager Andrew Limo said: “I don’t think he would have been brought back if it was not a unanimous commission decision. At the end of the day, it must have been minuted and it must have been agreed that he comes back.”

His comments came in the wake of suspicion that the electoral agency was split on the decision to have Muhati back on duty.

Raila Odinga’s advisor Salim Lone said Muhati’s return had been done in “an opaque way”.

He said Kenyans have been left in the dark whether Muhati was properly investigated as earlier promised by IEBC.

“If he is cleared, the commission should state clearly by who?” Lone posed.

Even as he confirmed that IEBC was yet to discuss the investigation report IEBC’s Limo said “in all decisions people may have different views, but in a democracy, it’s said the majority will have their way” hinting that not everyone at IEBC supported Muhati’s reinstatement.
