The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released a calendar, of activities and updates as the country seeks to hold another presidential election, October 17.

In a Gazette Notice dated September 5, 2017, chairman Wafula Chebukati, provided all the details required by the voter and the presidential candidates, ahead of the election.

The candidates are Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee Party) and Raila Odinga of the National Super Alliance.

The fresh election came about after Raila's successful petition at the Supreme Court, contesting Kenyatta's re-election in the August 8 polls, on grounds that he was rigged out. The court ordered for fresh poll within 60 days, starting September 1.

Below are the notifications from the IEBC, released Wednesday September 6.

1. Election Date - Tuesday October 17.

2. Campaign period - September 6 to October 15 (7am - 6pm).

3. Political parties and candidates should appoint and submit to the Commission the names of the National, County and Constituency Chief Elections Agents to the Commission on, or before October 2, 2017.

4. Polling stations will remain as published by the Commission June 30, 2017.

5. Tallying centres will remain as published by the Commission on June 30, 2017.

6. Registration of voters and revision of the register of voters is suspended until November 8, 2017.

7. Voters will only vote at a polling station where they are registered to vote.
