The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revised its timelines in efforts to meet strict deadlines set by the new elections act.
Political parties will hold their primaries on April 20, 2017.
Parties and independent candidates will deliver nomination papers to IEBC between May 8, 2017 and May 20.
"The request by stakeholders to have the second phase of mass voter registration during December holidays is now not possible and the exercise will run in February-March as earlier planned," said the commission in a document.
Initially, the exercise was to be conducted 14 days before June 9, 2017.
Mass voter registration scheduled to be done in December has been postponed to its initial February date. The exercise will now run from February 7, 2017 to March 9.
The commission had been requested to have the second mass listing in December to tap eligible school going youths.
The electoral agency has also pushed forward inspection of the register of voters to give room for the auditing of the voter register.
The exercise will now run from April 21 to May 21 for a period of 30 days.
