Bernadette Musundi of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops has been elected to lead the IEBC selection panel while Abdul El-Busaidy of Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims will deputize him.

The two were selected following a Friday morning meeting between members of the select committee.

The panel was appointed by president Uhuru Kenyatta to lead the recruitment of new commissioners to take over  from the disbanded Issack Hassan led commission.

The selection team has seven days to invite application from interested candidates.

Musundi said in her acceptance speech that the team will hire new commissioners in a transparent manner

"We will do all this by upholding the needs of Kenyans. We are now answerable to 40 million plus Kenyans," he said.
