According to the panel's chairperson Bishop Bernedatte Musundi, details issued by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) about the five shortlisted candidates were not satisfactory to enable the panel proceed with the interviews.

This means the outgoing IEBC chairperson, Issack Hassan will stay longer in office, halting the recruitment process as earlier planned.

"The positions will be re-advertised on Saturday, November 26, 2016 on local dailies. Those who had applied initially please do not re-apply, so that we can make the exercise simpler and fast," she said.

Those who were shortlisted earlier include; David Malakwen from Nandi county, Margaret Shava (Kiambu county), Roseline Odede (Kisumu), Lawyer John Mutakha (Kakamega) and David Mereka (Murang'a).

They were to be interviewed on November 28 and 29, 2016.

Addressing the press, Friday afternoon, Bishop Musundi clarified that interviews for the IEBC Commissioners would proceed as scheduled.
