The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has selected a firm that will clean the disputed voters’ register in 30 days.
This is according to the comission's director of voter educaation Rasi Masudi.
In a statement made on Monday, Masudi said that the verification will be conducted through confirmation of biometric data of voters at every polling station from May 10 to June 10.
He added that the audit has not been done in the timelines since there is a conflict between some section laws with the Public Procurement and Disposal Act.
“The commission had identified a firm to undertake the audit following an expression of interest which was floated. The contract has not been signed owing to a court order stopping the process,” he said.
“The commission is hopeful that the matter can be resolved expeditiously to enable the commencement of the audit,” he added.
If the review is done, it is expected that names of dead and ineligible voters will be shed off.
