Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong'o has called for security to be beefed up for senior Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials saying they are the most important government agency currently.Nyong'o who was speaking to NTV's AmLive breakfast program on Monday, said that IEBC officials are prone to many dangers and must, therefore, be 'protected like eggs'.The Senator's sentiments come as IEBC's ICT acting director Chris Musando went missing on Friday just days before a mock election results transmission is held."My wife and Musando's are first cousins and they are currently undergoing a lot of pain. This is a father and a husband. What I would like to request those who could be holding this gentleman, despite the differences, please bring this man alive," Nyong'o appealed.Musando lives in Nyayo estate and has been filling in for IEBC director of ICT James Muhati who was sent on a 30-day compulsory leave for not cooperating with the audit department.IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said in a statement on Sunday that the last communication from Musando was an SMS sent to one of his colleagues at around 3am on Saturday morning. He added the content of the SMS suggested Musando was conscious and fully aware of his itinerary for the day.The matter has since been reported to the police and the commission, together with family members are working closely with them to establish his whereabouts.
