Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has been slapped with hefty fine by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) code of conduct enforcement committee.

This is following chaos that erupted after his supporters and those of his opponent Wycliffe Wamangati clashed during the burial of his chief campaigner Edward Barasa last month.

Lusaka was fined Sh1 million by the Wafula Chebukati led committee and ordered to and pay the fine within 24 hours.

The committee also banned the Jubilee governor and Ford Kenya’s Wangamati  from holding any campaign meetings in the county with only three days left to the August 8 polls.

"The committee has resolved to bar Lusaka and Wangamati from campaigning or participating in any political activities in the country or anywhere else," Stated the committee.

The violence that was witnessed at the funeral left Kimilili Member of Parliament Chirasha Wakoli’s hand broken and his car totally destroyed.
