The electoral commission has ruled out postponing the repeat presidential election in certain parts of the country.
IEBC Vice Chairperson Connie Maina said even though some regions have been mapped as hot-spots, the commission had put in place measures to ensure the polls are conducted smoothly.
"We are not postponing elections in any part of the country. The security chiefs have mapped hot-spots where extra deployment will be required to protect our staff, election materials and equipment," she said on Tuesday.
Maina made the remarks after meeting senior security chiefs led by Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police King'ori Mwangi at the Bomas of Kenya.
There have been reports that IEBC was to call off elections in Nyanza after training of electoral officials was disrupted by rowdy youths in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties.
Area political leaders have also vowed they will use all means necessary to stop the election in the region that vote overwhelmingly for NASA leader Raila Odinga.
However, police chiefs in Nyanza have promised to provide adequate security during the electioneering period.
"I would like to assure residents in Nyanza that there is enough security to mitigate any danger that may arise during the election," regional police boss Leonard Katana told the Nation.
