A report by the Registrar of Supreme Court Esther Nyaiyaki indicates that electoral body IEBC transmitted results from 658 ungazzetted polling stations, further questioning the authenticity of August 8 elections.
The latest revelation may further dent the image of the already struggling IEBC, which is set to conduct another fresh presidential election which has been scheduled on October 17th.
Legally, there are 40, 883 gazetted polling stations across the country but further scrutiny of Forms 34A, Nyaiyaki says, revealed that 41, 541 polling stations transmitted such forms.
“I needed to ascertain the exact number of forms delivered,” said Nyaiyaki, adding that the untold irregularity affected over 30 constituencies across the country.
She further said:”This was done by matching the index with the list of all constituencies per county against the forms delivered.”
At the Supreme Court hearing subsequent to the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, the opposition team alleged that unknown polling stations were used to transmit results.
Filed by Prof Elijah Omwenga and a section of judicial officers, the report had earlier exposed using of fake forms by IEBC to submit results.
