IEBC has suspended all political campaigns for the Marsabit gubernatorial seat.
On Friday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati met Governor Ukur Yatani and his rival Mohamed Mohamud Ali, whose supporters clashed on Wednesday and issue the directive on suspension of the campaigns.
The two leaders were summoned by IEBC over the chaos in which three people were wounded in chaos that ensued in Marsabit town after president Uhuru Kenyatta and his DP William Ruto had addressed a rally.
"We have agreed with the two leaders that all the campaigns in the county will be suspended until Monday next week, when as a committee we shall issue a decision, after hearing both parties," said Chebukati.
Yatani is defending his seat on Frontier Alliance Party ticket after he decamped from ODM.
He will face off with Mohamed Mohamud Ali of Jubilee Party.
Governor Yatani and his competitor said they will duly comply with IEBC's directive since it will not affect them citing that they have campaigned enough in the last few months across the county.
Yatani called on county residents to maintain peace before and after the elections.
