The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has suspended the register query via SMS.
The elections body had rolled out the campaign for Kenyans to confirm their registration details by sending their National Identification/Passport number to 22464.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, IEBC said the system was a bit slow, as it took a while to upload data of newly registered voters.
“We suspend SMS register query via SMS to 22464 because newly registered voters unnecessarily get disappointed. Takes a while to upload data,” reads a tweet by @IEBCKenya.
It added, “Effecting changes and uploading records on the database takes a while, please don't panic that you are not registered. You are!”
