The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) director of ICT James Mutahi has been sent on a compulsory leave.

Mutahi was sent on leave by the electoral body following accusations that he had refused to cooperate in an ongoing audit of ICT systems.

The decision to send Mutahi packing was arrived at after a meeting that was chaired by Wafula Chebukati.

Chebukati personally signed the memo sending Muhati home for a month.

The Commission has therefore appointed manager Chris Msando as the acting director.

Mutahi was accused of failing to respond to a memo by his colleague Director of Audit, Risk and Compliance Obadiah Keitany dated 17th May. I

Keitany accused Muhati of refusing to cooperate on authentication of the commission's software and hardware licences and certificates.
