The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has moved to dispel reports that three of its officials have been suspended yet again.

Reports surfaced on Tuesday evening indicating that the commission had suspended ICT Director James Muhati, ICT Coordinator Paul Mugo and ICT Officer Boniface Wamae.

In a tweet on Tuesday night, the commission said the information on the leaked memo was incomplete, and that the matter was still under investigation.

“The new leaked doc was internal and still under discussion by the Commission. No final decision has been taken on the issues. Regrettable.” Read the tweet on their official twitter account.

According to the leaked memo, the officers were suspended for failing to deliver on their mandate, partially leading to the nullification of the August 8 polls in which Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner.

“Quite patently, the ICT Director and two members of staff involved in managing SFTP platform, appear to have fallen short of assisting the Commission successfully discharge this collegial and constitutionally enshrined mandate,” read part of IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s internal memo.

The latest revelations continue to cast doubt over the suitability of the commission holding a free and fair election, with many arguing that they were not ready to host the all-important exercise.

The said memo comes a few weeks after another leaked memo, in which the Chairman Wafula Chebukati demanded answers from the CEO Ezra Chiloba on various key issues before and during the election.
