The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission seems to be facing a crisis ahead of October 26 fresh presidential poll.According to reports, the commission is facing challenges in opposition perceived strongholds after several IEBC temporary staff boycotted the election exercise by failing to turn up for training last week with some returning officers asking for transfers with just 10 days left to the poll.Their move is said to been occasioned by the decision of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to withdraw from the October election. The reports have further cited security concerns after certain political leaders from the affected regions vowed not to allow the election be conducted in those regions.IEBC has however downplayed the shortage as they are determined to recruit the junior staff before election day. They have also assured that security will be provided. The counties affected include Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay and Kisumu. To contain the situation, the commission led by chair Wafula Chebukati and commissioner Roselyn Akombe on Saturday visited the affected counties to asses the situation.
