The repeat presidential polls could be conducted on October 26 and not the earlier October 17 as had been announced earlier.
The new election date is likely to be tabled in a meeting with the Jubilee and NASA leadership scheduled for Wednesday.
According to the Star, the commission held a plenary on Monday where the agency chiefs settled on the date.
Another meeting is set to be held today to confirm the date.
"Not conclusively decided but highly likely," said a senior official as quoted by the Star.
More inside sources quoted by the Star affirmed that talks are in progress and a final decision could be arrived at latest Wednesday.
