The electoral agency said that it is working with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to see into it that all those who saw seeds of animosity among Kenyans are barred from contesting in the 2017 poll.

IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba further hinted that they are going to work with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to ensure that all those politicians whose integrity is questionable are barred from contesting in the 2017 poll.

"We are collaborating with NCIC, which deals with hate speech and EACC for integrity and there is a conversation over vetting of candidates. We are working with NCIC to get data on cases of hate speech," Chiloba said.

Mr Chiloba said they could not vet the candidates in 2013 as there was no structured framework to ascertain the integrity of the candidates as they were only required to fill a form to declare themselves fit to hold office.

If IEBC make true their threat, then at least 8 Cord and Jubilee lawmakers risk being locked out of the next year's poll as they have pending cases inn court over hate speech.
