The IEBC is today Monday set to hold a crisis conference with all president candidates concerning procurement of the presidential ballot papers.

With just 29 days left to the polls, the electoral commission is trying to make sure it has prepared well for the August 8 general elections.

IEBC says it will meet the eight candidates after a ruling by the High Court which ordered that it starts afresh the procurement of ballot papers.

Through chairman Wafula Chebukati, the commission said the meeting set for 11am targets to seek their opinion on sourcing of the poll materials.

However, Chebukati said IEBC will appeal the recent High Court ruling over public participation in procurement.

“We regret this decision given the urgency to prepare for a free, fair and credible election in the next 30 days. The High Court dismissed most of the allegations against the decision of the commission to award the tender to Al Ghurair printing and publishing,” he said.

“The order by the court was solely based on the reason that there was no public participation during the direct award of the tender to Al Ghurair. This is the very novell," he added.

“The commission wishes to assure Kenyans it is making all efforts to ensure all processes are in place to deliver a free, fair and credible election,” he said.
