The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has directed all political parties to complete their nominations by Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati however said parties have until May 10 to resolve all disputes arising from their shambolic nominations.
This coming at a time political parties are racing against time to abide by the Wednesday deadline.
The chaotic scenes that have characterized political parties have seen keen observers raise questions over whether political parties will meet the April 26th deadline, the date by which IEBC expects them to have finalized their primaries.
The questions emerged especially after Jubilee party’s last Friday’s bungled primaries that were later nullified, and whose other prominent feature was chaos.
With the party having revised its schedule and slated the primaries for this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju expressed optimism that they will abide by the 26th April deadline, so much that he says they do not need an extension.
ODM, Jubilee, ANC, Wiper and other parties had requested the polls body to extend the deadline.
