IEBC concluded its first phase of registration of voters countrywide on Tuesday, this week despite the low voter turnout.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday at a tour in Nakuru and Baringo counties respectively said that the Jubilee government will raise extra money for IEBC to continue registering voters until the eligible Kenyans get registered as voters countrywide.
The President noted that it is the constitutional right of every Kenyan to register as a voter and participate in voting and the voter registration exercise. He also asked the Internal Security Ministry to ensure all Kenyans aged 18 years and above get National Identification cards to use them during the voter registration exercise. He added that the Registrar of Persons should not deny Kenyans who own birth certificates a chance to apply for National Identification cards as reported in the past.
The president was speaking when he toured Baringo and Nakuru counties on Tuesday to officiate and launch development projects such as water and road in the counties respectively.
