ODM Party secretary general Ababu Namwamba said many Kenyans still lack Identity and voters’ cards.

Namwamba said the two authorities charged with the registration of ID and voters’ card must ensure every Kenyan above the age of 18 is captured to acquire the two documents.

He said the two documents are vital to give Kenyans the opportunity to take part in any democratic process in the country.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday before embarking on a series of launching voter registration exercises in the county, Namwamba called upon residents of Western Kenya to maximise on the opportunity and get registered.

He announced that ODM party is putting up preparations that include massive registration of voters a head of 2017 general election.

Namwamba said the region has not maximized its numbers which has cost the party and they will use the registration roll out to have eligible persons registered.

“We have the numbers but our people do not want to register as voters. Let us all come out and be registered,” said Namwamba.

Kisumu County governor Jack Ranguma who accompanied Namwamba when he paid a courtesy call at the ODM Kisumu branch office said the party should remain united to achieve its main goal.
