The National Super Alliance (Nasa) has been dealt a blow hours after it demanded that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should hire internationally recognised IT expert to oversee the forthcoming August 8 polls.

Their demand came a day after the news of the brutal killing of the IEBC ICT manager Chris Musando.

Addressing members of the press, Tuesday, the Nasa team led by co-principal  Musalia mudavadi called for the appointment of a foreign expert to secure the systems ahead of the polls in six days.

“We suggest to IEBC to hire an internationally recognized IT expert to oversee the election. Unless dramatic steps are taken, Kenyans will not be sure if the polls are credible. Our democracy has been undermined by the murder of Msando,” said Mudavadi.

However, speaking to journalists outside the Anniversary towers on Tuesday, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati noted the electoral body will not bring on board any international expert since they have everything on course.

He further said the late Musando had trained the team he left behind.

"The system in our servers are secure and everything is secure Let's not speculate. As much as they (IEBC commissioners) are worried for their safety, they are still working," said Chebukati as quoted by Tuko.
