The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has been urged to consider partitioning a constituency due to its large population and size.
Speaking at Magombo ward on Wednesday, Kitutu Masaba aspiring MP Victor Ogeto said the constituency was too big and deserved to be broken down into two for effective service delivery.
According to him, previous leaderships had failed to reach the expectations of locals due to its large population of more tha 80,000 registered voters.
“Kitutu Masaba constituency is quite big and something urgent should be done by the IEBC to ensure locals get effective representation," Mr Ogeto said.
"Many leaders have failed to reach the expectations of our people because of the immense size and huge population of this constituency.”
Ogeto said he will file a petition and present it to the IEBC for consideration with leading politicians reportedly having endorsed his suggestions.
“I am not alone and I know many of our leaders are for the idea. The constituency is probably among the most densely populated outside Nairobi and Central province. I am finalising a petition to the IEBC for consideration,” he said.
In 2013, leaders from the region sharply differed with the IEBC after attempts to amalgamate a section of the constituency to the current Borabu constituency, making IEBC partition North Mugirango constituency instead of Kitutu Masaba.
If the proposal goes through, political temperatures in the constituency are set to be minimised since top aspirants may not face each other in 2017 polls.
