Wiper Democratic Movement party listed its party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as a presidential candidate.

This has caused an uproar from its supporters forcing the IEBC to explain why it had to list him as presented by Wiper. The electoral body revealed that Raila Odinga is listed but he does not have a running mate. However, IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati explained what transpired.

"Except for independent candidates, the list was generated by the Candidate Registration Management System (CRMS) which allowed political parties to submit their candidates on-line. The last date of submission was on May 16, 2017. Political Parties and independent candidates are encouraged to review the list and provide any clarification and correction where required," IEBC said in the report as quoted by the Star.

The presidential race has attracted several contestants. The incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA’s Raila Odinga are the candidates who are tipped to get most votes. Others are Musungu Amram on a Maendeleo Democratic Party, Alliance for Real Change party has Dida Mohamed Abduba, Jirongo Shakhalaga on a United Democratic Party, Thirdway Alliance Kenya has Ekuru Aukot and Juma Justus Onyango will vie on a Justice and Freedom Party ticket. There are other independent candidates seeking to oust President Kenyatta.
