Speaking in Lwandanyi Primary School in Sirisia constituency, Bungoma county during a funds drive, Mudavadi cautioned the electoral body to desist from postponing the elction dates.

According to Mudavadi, IEBC was trying to postpone the set election dates from 8th August 2017 to a later date due to the instructions and influence from Jubilee masterminds.

However, Mudavadi said that any move to postpone the election dates would be resisted with immediate effect.

"There is a reason to believe that IEBC is being instructed to perfom in a certain way by the Jubilee administration. This is not going to happen because the next year's general election should be free and fair. The election dates will also not be changed since the delay in choosing the new IEBC officials is geared towards postponing the election dates to a later date. IEBC should perform without the influence of anyone in the country," said Mudavadi.

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) had earlier on held nationwide demonstrations calling for the removal of IEBC commissioners from office for fear of colluding with the Jubilee government to rig 2017 elections.

According to Cord, IEBC was colluding with the Jubilee government to rig 2017 elections and give Jubilee a second term in office.

However, the Jubilee administration has downplayed claims that it is planning to rig 2017 elections. Jubilee leaders termed the claims by the opposition as fear of facing them in 2017 elections. Photo caption:  Photo courtesy:
