The late veteran politician Kenneth Matiba had big dreams which were killed by “bad people.”
After a long time struggling with illness, he finally died at Karen Hospital.
His tragic death on Sunday attracted a flurry of condolences from people all over Kenya.
If Matiba were the “president” today, there are many things Kenyans would never have seen happen.
In his time in politics, there are many things he never advocated for.
Here are 10 things that would never have happened if Matiba was alive on the president’s seat today:
1. No Kenyan would have ever complained about ridging in elections.
2. No Kenyan would have gone unpunished when caught in corruption.
3. No Kenyan would have ever taught of disobeying court orders or abuse judges.
4. No Kenyan would ever try putting independent bodies like the IEBC under siege of their leadership.
5. No Kenyan would have ever thought of ethnic profiling of communities.
6. No Kenyan would have been deported from his/her mother country due to political differences.
7. No Kenyan journalists would have been beaten or news stations closed.
8. Kenyan civil societies or the whistleblowers would have been given their freedom of expression and not silenced.
9. No Kenyan would have been detained innocently or drugged against their will.
10. No Kenyan government officials would have been forced to act and do as the government want, like when chiefs were forced to campaign for the government.
