Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko on Saturday told off critics who are claiming that he is sleeping on job and not working.
According to the governor, making Nairobi a successful place should be a role of everyone and should not be left for the governor alone.
Sonko was speaking to KTN news reporter along Ngong' Road where he was leading a delegation in an exercise that involved tree planting meant to make the city green.
"We need your support, we the support of the national government, we need the support of all stakeholders, we need the support of Nairobians. Lets avoid this blame game of Nairobi is dirty because they are sleeping on job. If Nairobi is dirty why we don't have cholera?
"When we were campaigning we had that cholera even my predecessor had cholera. Why haven't I been caught. It shows we are working. People should not bring a bad perception that Sonko is not working this is not about Sonko it is about us," he said.
The governor revealed plans are underway to get the recycling plant in Dandora working that will create employment to the youths.
"We have recycling plant in Dandora which we will be using garbage as raw material to energy. Our jobless youth will sell it to this recycling plant in Dandora. So this is what we are intending to do but am planning in few weeks from now we had a very successful meeting with his excellency the president yesterday and we are also working also on that," he added.
The initiative under the banner of the Nairobi regeneration project is to make sure that more than 3200 trees are planted across all major highways in Nairobi in order to make the city green.
