Political rivalry is believed to be brewing in the National Super Alliance coalition between ODM and Ford Kenya candidates ahead of NASAs planned tour in Bungoma.
Nasa flag bearer Raila Odinga has planned to travel to Bungoma County on Wednesday and is set to promote his bid for presidency against incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This follows reports of division in the Nasa party among those vying for political positions in the county ahead of the August 8 elections.
Two key leaders caught in this debacle include Ford Kenya’s Wycliffe Wangamati and ODMs Alfred Khang'ati who in recent months have differed over the Nasa leaders backing of Khang’ati.
There have been a series of exchanges between supporters of both parties ahead of the rally, with some of it making its way to social media.
Ford Kenya party Moses Wetangula has been blamed by ODM Chairman Majimbo Okumu for encouraging Raila to support specific candidates.
"Nobody will be endorsed. Let people face each other on the ballot. Let them stop getting power through the back door," Majimbo said as reported by The Star.
The ODM Chairman believes ODM influenced Khang’ati’s win in the by-election against Muskari Kombo earlier this year.
Ahead of the tour Odinga has been cautioned about the consequences of Nasa candidates not working together.
The Nasa leader is expected to take his rallies to Webuye and Kimilili.
